Symbol

Definition: is the use of a simple object to represent another, deeper meaning or an idea. 


Example: 
The cross in Christianity represent the tortures and sufferings Jesus had, it also represent the death of Christianity, or stand for Christianity itself. 


Significant: The use of symbol in poems is to make it sounds simple but has depth in meaning. To make the audience guess the meaning instead of just write it out.
