Definition: is a figure of speech that doesn't compare objects or organisms directly, using words like : as or like or than. Simile is similar to metaphor, while metaphor compare objects or organisms directly, simile doesn't.
Example:
- He fights like a lion.
- She swims like a dolphin.
- He slithers like a snake.
- He runs like a cheetah.
- He drinks like a fish.
Significant: With simile we can compare two objects that are similar in our poems so that readers can understand and visualize what we are talking about in our poem better. Also with simile we can how things can related to us or around us through comparing them, and see the world in a different perspective.
