Meter

Definition: basically rhythmic structure of a verse, there are patterns of stressed and unstressed syllables. 

Example: 
Hickory, dickory, dock,
The mice ran up the clock.
The clock struck one,
The mice ran down.
Hickory, dickory , dock.

Significant: with meter the poem can be read with emotions, going up and down, created feelings for the audience.
