Speaker

Definition: Who's point of view the poem is written in is the speaker of the poem, although the author is not always the speaker.

Example: Emily Dickinson wrote a poem about love, but through a man's perspective.

Significant: the speaker is very important in poems because that person tells us what happened in the poem, if there's no speaker, there is no poem to be read.
