Metaphor

Definition: Metaphor is used to describes a person or object in a literary way by referring to something that  has similar characteristics to the person or object you are trying to describe without using like or as

Example:
That guy, Frank, is a leopard.

Significant: Using metaphor in poems will make the poems sound better. And metaphor can shorten your sentence because it doesn't use like or as. By describe a person or object using metaphor the reader can visualize the person or object that is being described better using the image that the author is comparing to by the similar characteristics of those two things or organisms.
